The Benefits of Seeing a Prosthodontist

The following cases are actual patients of Dr. Rigby. These patients knew that their smiles deserved a specialist’s care! Not only does Dr. Rigby specialize in difficult cases, but he also does the majority of his own dental lab work. This enables him to control the quality of the work provided to his patients. This also gives the patient the advantage of having Dr. Rigby completely involved throughout every step of their individual case.

This patient came to us with failing and incomplete dental work. Her initial exam showed several areas of dental decay, acid erosion of the existing teeth and brittle/thin enamel that was fracturing at an alarming rate. After beginning her dental work at another location, the patient realized she wanted to be treated by a specialist (Prosthodontist) who had been trained properly to deal specifically with the complicated issues present for her final restoration. After much discussion about the current findings, concerns, and diet counseling, the patient chose Dr. Rigby for her full mouth rehabilitation. For final restoration, Dr. Rigby sequenced the complex treatment plan to address the patient’s chief desires of improved self-confidence and aesthetic/cosmetic improvement. A full diagnostic work-up was completed and a multidisciplinary (involving other dental specialists) approach was utilized (an Endodontist and Periodontist worked in partnership with Dr. Rigby serving as the Prosthodontist in this case) to achieve the results seen. Traditional prosthodontic methods (crowns and bridges) were used to turn the smile of her dreams into a reality. Upon final delivery of the dental prosthetics the patient expressed her gratitude with hugs all around!

This patient came to us with a desire to improve her current chewing ability and to eliminate the gap between her front teeth. Her initial exam showed several areas of failing current restorations, chipped porcelain, dental decay, endodontic (root canal therapy) failure, and edentulous (missing teeth) areas. After a comprehensive diagnostic work-up, Dr. Rigby made several recommendations for treatment and the patient decided to use a combination of new and old dental techniques. The full mouth reconstruction was completed utilizing state-of-the-art dental implant technology and traditional prosthodontics (veneers and crowns). Several concerns arose during the course of treatment due to dental implant placement concerns. Dr. Rigby was able to consult with one of the leading implant manufacturers to devise a solution to allow the case to be restored without further complication. Once completed the patient turned to Dr. Rigby and said “This is hands down the best money I have ever spent!”
